Fire Chief Stan Simi Memorial Training Grant Program was founded in memory of Chief Stan Simi, who lost his life November 2017, following a battle with job-related cancer. Chief Simi enjoyed a long career as a front line firefighter in several Delta communities, including stints as chief with the Rio Vista, River Delta and Montezuma fire departments. He was passionate about providing young student firefighters with opportunities to learn and gain hands-on experience while on the job protecting the delta communities.
Chief Simi is a legendary figure in Delta communities. His leadership and influence will be missed by all and his work will positively impact the region for generations to come. The annual Grant awarded under this program will used to be develop new firefighters who are in pursuit of becoming a firefighter.
